How to use INTERFEROME

INTERFEROME is a database of approximately 2000 interferon regulated genes (IRGs). It integrates sequence and expression information based on over 30 published papers on interferon regulated genes obtained from microarray and proteomic experiments in which the cells were treated only with interferon. Each gene in the database is differentially regulated by more than 1.5 fold relative to control samples. The main functionality of the database is to search for IFN Regulated Gene signatures.

This database enables a user who has completed a microarray or a proteomic (or other high throughput gene expression) experiment and identified a potentially co-regulated gene list (obtained after completion of normalization, clustering and statistical analysis) to determine if there is a IRG signature in their gene list. If the genes are involved in infection, immunity or cancer, this database will enable the user to identify an IFN signatures common to that dataset, which is an indicator of IFN activity in the experimental system.
